Why do you think that is — timing? I guess the timing was right but also we spent three years working on it. The whole album is linked by themes and sounds that run through it and many of the tracks are segued. There is a strong sci-fi and 80s feel to it. We wanted to almost create a world in which the album takes place and make it all quite cinematic. Would you change your direction to stay in the spotlight? I think we have more links sonically to rock, French electro and classic 80s pop than we do to dubstep.
We just write a lot of music at a speed that is recognised as being dubstep-like. There are also quite a few songs at other speeds on the album.
I think we have built a sound that is recognisable as Nero now so it will be fun to use that sound to play around with lots of different speeds on future albums perhaps. We would just like to be thought of as an electronic group rather than being genre specific. Which tracks are you the most proud of and why? We wrote it very quickly and the whole song just seemed to fall into place.
It was also the song the really kicked the whole album campaign off for us. Recently you were involved in the BBC dubstep symphony project. Move to the LFO section to the right-top side of Z3ta. This is a triplet movement, great for Dubstep. Although the SYNC rate will be varying over time, this is our starting point. Move range to full.
The wobble is audible at this point, but we still need to get the speed varying over time. Step 9 At this stage we need to define some minor adjustments to our synth to correspond correctly to the LFO Sync movement. This will give the impression that the sound is delayed as it plays back.
And voila! Feel free to play with effects like Chorus, Distortion and creative EQ to make the sound your own. Fig 3 shows my MIDI programming which is also downloadable www.
Can we talk about how outstanding RahulKohli13 is in MidnightMass? Keep your DiCaprios and Streeps. We had major disagreements but we became friends. We actually at some point had dinners and smoked Cuban cigars together! Believe it or not. Go well Mr President!! Kinda headline is this? Step 4. Load the following waveforms into Osc 2, 3 and 4. Osc 2 — Vintage Saw 1 Octave 0. Osc 3 — Noisy Saw Octave 0. Osc 4 — Disto 1 Octave o. This is a rough guide and is an area where you can spend a lot of editing time.
Note that there are different values for different notes, so use your ears for accuracy. Here is another element that will need your undivided attention to work well. Combine these LFO changes while listening, plus making adjustments on the ESP plug-in itself to get the most from this.
Here is some detail on the notation of this track from the piano roll window. The velocity of these notes will affect the plug-ins sound depending on how the velocity is set up on the unit.
